Wash or decontaminate your hands and put on PPE (risk assessment to ensure appropriate PPE is worn, as per local protocol).Switch off any power that might be connected to the machineAlways wipe surfaces from clean to dirty.Cleaning all surfaces should require approximately 2 wipes. Ensure you replace wipes that dry out or become soiled. Open the cuff flat, and from one of the corners, wipe along the cuff in an ‘S’ shaped pattern.Turn the cuff over and repeat.The Velcro on the cuff needs to be wiped thoroughly and be wet enough to penetrate the entire layer of the Velcro as it is challenging to effectively clean.Using a new wipe, clean any connection hoses, including where they attach to the machineLeave the blood pressure cuff to air dry, allowing sufficient contact time with the disinfectant.Dispose of cleaning wipes as per local protocol.Remove PPE, wash or decontaminate hands and if required, complete a record of cleaning, as per your local protocols.
