GAMA Healthcare is proud to announce the formation of a new Clinical Research and Education department. Heading up this new division will be our new Clinical Director, Martin Kiernan, who joined GAMA on the 1st of April 2015.

Clinical research Working with clinicians and academic research centres we aim to add to and develop the evidence base in critical areas of patient care such as environmental and patient skin decontamination. We will be supporting local initiatives and will continue to develop our award-winning Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs).

Education and training Building on the extensive free training and support we offer our customers, we aim to provide more bespoke and targeted onsite education for all Healthcare Workers.

New product development We aim to gain a better understanding of the real problems that organisations are facing and to provide practical solutions to these challenges.

Martin Kiernan, Clinical Director Martin has worked in the field of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for 25 years, most recently as former Nurse Consultant in Infection Prevention at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust in the North-West of England. He has Masters Degrees in both Public Health and Clinical Research. He is also a visiting Clinical Fellow the Richard Wells Research Centre, University of West London. Martin is involved with many government initiatives, IPC groups and advisory boards including the Department of Health (England) Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-associated Infection (ARHAI) and is a past president of the UK Infection Prevention Society. Martin has presented at many conferences both in the UK and internationally and has published over 50 papers and articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Infection Prevention. GAMA Healthcare believes that through careful research and partnerships we can produce innovative solutions to everyday infection control issues and help to reduce Hospital Acquired Infections.
