We’re pleased to announce an update to our product offering that marks a significant transition within our range. The Clinell 2% Chlorhexidine in 70% Alcohol green sachets, renowned within the NHS for their role in delivering effective medical device disinfection, will now be known as HEXI HUB.

This rebranding aligns them with the HEXI family, reflecting our commitment to adhering to UK guidelines and promoting superior practices in intravenous (IV) care and blood culture collection. The unified HEXI brand identity is designed to simplify product identification, thereby improving efficiency and efficacy in patient care protocols.

Maintaining trusted quality under a new brand

HEXI HUB will maintain the same trusted formulation and effectiveness that healthcare professionals rely on. By using both HEXI PREP (2% CHG, 70% IPA), our pharmaceutical-licensed skin preparation pad, and HEXI HUB, our medical device wipe, we are proud to present a comprehensive, regulated range of 2% Chlorhexidine in 70% Alcohol solutions. This strategic alignment under the HEXI brand enables healthcare staff to easily select the appropriate product for specific clinical indications, ensuring the right product is used at the right time for the best patient outcomes.

The HEXI product family is recommended for:

1. Minimising the risk of bloodstream infections

For initial IV Insertion

HEXI PREP:  Utilise the cross-hatch technique for 30 seconds to ensure thorough decontamination of the skin before medical procedures such as peripheral venous and arterial cannulation, simple biopsies, routine venepuncture, and cleansing at dialysis fistula/graft sites.

For Ongoing IV Maintenance

HEXI PREP:  Routine cleansing of all catheter insertion sites, supporting dressing changes and the overall maintenance of the IV site.

HEXI HUB: Scrub the catheter hub, access port, or needleless connector for a minimum of 10 seconds*.

2. Minimising the risk of contaminated blood cultures

HEXI PREP – Utilise the cross-hatch technique for 30 seconds to ensure thorough decontamination of the skin.

HEXI HUB: Scrub the top of the blood culture bottles for at least 10 seconds* before blood insertion.

Availability and transition

HEXI HUB will be delivered to NHS depots at the start of May. As we manage the inventory transition, there will be a period during which the existing Clinell 2% Chlorhexidine in 70% Alcohol stock will be phased out.

This change will be supported by our ongoing commitment to training and support with the refresh of posters and literature accordingly. Please contact your local sales representative for more information.

We appreciate your support as we move forward with this rebranding initiative, committed to providing high-quality, clinically validated solutions.
