iQ: Infection prevention education with GAMA

In this session you will learn about infection prevention and control (IPC), why healthcare associated infections (HAIs) occur and how you can reduce the risk of transmission by implementing standard infection control precautions (SICPs).

In this session, you will learn how to understand disinfectants, the different types of disinfectants and their activity. We will look at what factors influence disinfectant activity and how to interpret disinfectant claims. We will also look at the way disinfectants are tested to provide assurance of efficacy and what that means in the 'real world' setting of the healthcare environment.

In this session we will focus on the differences between decontamination, cleaning and disinfection, their intricacies, and how they support environmental hygiene and reducing the risk of healthcare associated infections (HAIs).
